Summer Reading Challenge – 2017

Challenge dates:   June 7 through August 31, 2017 (change to 8/18 due to library closing)

This group will be divided, by age, into two groups: Chapter books and Picture books.

We will post a chart on bulletin board to keep track of the 10 line reading logs that are completed and turned in to us.

For each completed 10 line log turned in:

1.  Child will personalize a pennant to hang at the front desk all summer.

2. A sticker will be added to the child’s name on our chart.

3.  A small surprise will be given to the child .

4.  A trophy will be awarded to the top 2 readers in each group

Chapter Books –  School age:  6 and over

Challenge = read 20 minutes per night; signed off by an adult or older sibling

The goal is to read one book in 2 weeks.  But all are invited to read more!  Keep up reading skills through the summer.

Picture Books – Preschool:  Ages 5 and under

Challenge = finish 1 book per night (can be read by an adult); signed off by an adult or older sibling

For the youngest children the goal is to have 10 picture books read to them in 2 weeks. This program can help children prepare to enter school ready to read and listen.
